CLIENT UPDATE 2020 Tax Season – Providing Your Documentation
As the second round of pandemic-era personal tax season begins, we are striving to provide our clients and staff with safer alternatives for the delivery of information. The purpose of this update is to advise you of the methods which are available to you for submitting your tax information to us for preparation, and options available to you for receiving your completed return.
If you are in the process of compiling your personal tax information, we recommend reviewing our personal tax checklist available here. This provides a summary of useful tax information which will aid us in preparing your return.
PHYSICAL DELIVERY
As in prior years, we are accepting physical drop-off and mail-in of your personal tax information at any of our offices. In order to ensure the safety of our staff, and the uninterrupted continuity of our services, physical information received will be placed in “quarantine” for a period of 24 hours before being distributed to the appropriate staff member.
As we continue to limit face-to-face interactions in our offices we ask that discussions with staff regarding your returns be had via phone calls, e-mail correspondence and/or online video conference.
ELECTRONIC DELIVERY
If your preference is to provide your documentation to us electronically, you may upload it using our secure web portal on our website. From our homepage at www.wilkinson.net, click the “Client Upload” button in the top right corner (or simply click here) to be taken to our upload portal.
After entering some identification details, you will be directed to a page where you will be able to select the appropriate Wilkinson & Company office location (Belleville, Trenton or Kingston), and drag and drop your files for uploading. In order to help us streamline our tax preparation process, we recommend uploading files in a single PDF document, in addition to any excel or word documents or accounting back-ups that are used to support your personal tax information.
Upon the completion of your tax return, you will have the option to receive your return electronically via e-mail in lieu of receiving a physical copy. If this is your preference, please advise us when providing your personal tax information initially or advise our staff of your preference during the preparation process.
We are always looking to improve our services and accommodate the needs of our clients and staff in these challenging times. If you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding any of our processes, please do not hesitate to contact your trusted advisor at Wilkinson & Company LLP.
